A Message from Basem…

Hi, I’m Basem.

I’ve spent most of my life in our community—growing up here, going to school at Gladstone Park Secondary, and now living here with my wife Natascha. This isn’t just where I live—it’s my home, and I’m proud to be part of such a diverse, hardworking community.

I studied teaching locally because I believe education opens doors. It did for me—and I want every young person here to have that same opportunity. I’m passionate about making sure the next generation has the tools they need to succeed.

I know how much potential our community has. Calwell was once a proud centre of manufacturing, and I believe we can lead Australia’s resurgence in making things here again—creating secure, well-paying jobs by backing local workers, investing in skills and growing local industries.

As your Labor Member for Calwell, I’m focused on delivering real outcomes: more jobs, more opportunity, free TAFE and better access to healthcare.

This is my community—and I’ll always stand up for it.
